Content is the King
In the world of Search Engine, Content is the King!
Without good content it is not feasible to rank the website on search engine result pages. A good website with no SEO will never be able to make a mark. Content comes in various forms like text, info-graphics, images, videos, presentations etc. A combined mix of all forms of content can help optimize a website for SEO and rank well on the search engines. The originality of the content is important for it to stand out and rank well on the search engines. When your content is original make sure that you publish it on your website first before sharing it on various digital platforms.
Rewrite or rephrase the content if you pick it from various other sources in order for it to look original. If your content is either an info-graphic or a video, make sure you have text content along with non text format. If you have images, make sure you have image alt text in place.
Do not add content for the sake of publishing. Make sure every piece of content adds value to your website. Long articles rank better than short ones. So, make sure the length of your articles is optimum. The frequency of post is also quite important to keep your website active.
Page Titles, Page Description and Keywords
When a search engine crawler crawls your website it will begin with reading the header, the footer of the website and then the content. The meta tags residing in the header of the website provide an understanding about the niche of the website to the crawler. Once the crawler understands what your website is all about it will list the website accordingly.
While creating the meta tags the standards should be adhered to which specify the length of the title being no more than 70 characters and description and keywords to be not more than 160 characters in length.
The title and description are very important, as it not only informs the search engines about what the page is about, but also provides an advertising opportunity to attract customers with a convincing message.
H1 and H2 Sub Headings
A page needs to be properly formatted and the content must have heading (H1) and sub headings (H2) tags. They should either be made bold or italic. The entire content must be broken up into small paragraphs and must be in a readable font.
Image Alt Tags
Images are important part of the content as it makes the content appealing. Images should be original and not picked up from any other site. In case if you do, make sure you reference the source. Images should not be very heavy as it increases the loading time of the website. All images should have a proper Image Alt tag in place to describe the image.
The URLs of the website should have a search friendly structure. A good URL would be lesser than 255 characters and should have keywords and separators for the search engines to recognize the keywords within the URL easily.
